Scotland - Oh ye Scotland

It is really about time I added more pics to this.

What can I say about Scotland - I LOVE it and I want to go back. It is the best place ever and hopefull these pics will show you why.
While I was in Scotland I had a look around Edinburgh and I went on a 3 day tour will a company called Haggis. It doesnt mean that we went in search of the best Haggis in Scotland (Haggis is a traditional scottish dish) - basically it means 25 of us jumped on a bright yellow bus and we looked around the best places in Scotland and we were guided by the most lovable, funny and knowledgeable tour guide ever, Tony. We got to listen to stories about William Wallace, Queen Mary and many others. For me because I loved History in school it was the most insightful tour ever.

So now I will stop blabbing on and show you the pics...

This is Tony. Tony wore a kilt everyday on tour and most of the time it was freezing. Tony was our driver/guide so he talked and drove at the same time. Tony was very talented. I never got bored because Tony was yapping on about something interesting all the time. Unlike Contiki where you have to sleep, read and sleep some more on the bus.

Tony in his Kilt. I know its hard to see - but yeah Kilts are sexy. I just didnt look underneath it :P

I promise you more Kilts if you click here :) )

Shots of Applesourz in Austria. 1 word one for those things - YUM!
The boys were lining them up and shooting like 10 in a row and having someone film it. Needless to say there were a few sore heads the next day - mine included

Tour mate Katie and I after a few of those shots!!

The popular "sperm" shot - you can all guess its a milky alcoholic type of shooter. I personally just like the packaging :P

Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The leaning tower is in a really crap area. All these black people try to sell you fake Prada, Gucci bags. I must say I decided to get one 20 euros is the cheapest I could get it. I bargained pretty hard - he wanted 35 for it at first.

I am home

  • Oct. 24th, 2006 at 4:55 PM
meeeee
Sadly, I am home. While I am glad to be home, a part of me hasnt quite finished exploring. But it will be a couple of years before I have the time and money to do it all again. Despite the hiccups, I had a good time and I saw so many amazing places.

6 weeks flew by and I cant wait to be able to get on a plane and do it all again.

Having said that its great to be home and see the people I care about again.

I have some pics to put up and they will go up soon. But my new user icon is me in Munich. Gosh that beer is good.

If I can be bothered, I may do a day by day update with pics.

I hope you all have enjoyed reading about my adventures!!!!

here iam in a dodgy sports bar in Scotland and it has free internet at my table. its kind of like Hans cafe where you can order by touch screen. In placeof the touch screen is an internet terminal with sony playstation access too. i mean how cool is that. the keyboard is dodgy though - hence my lack of capital letters.

Today i went on one of those red sight seeing buses. i went up to the Edinburgh castle and the whisky distillery. I am goimg to be coming home with some nice whiskey and other things. Tommorrow i have a 9am train back to London. I am last minute catch ups with people before i head on home. I am sad but happy to be going home. I could really brag all day about how good Scotland is.

Well my food has arrived - it looks nice.

I have had a wonderful time un Scotland and I hope to come back one day.

The Haggis tour was amazing and sooo much fun. I am sad that its only gone for 3 days.

Scotland is really beautiful and if you are ever coming over to Europe - Scotland is a must do trip.

The people are fantastic and the scenery is just gorgeous.

When I get home I'll post some photos and show you what I mean.

Its now time for some dinner and a last night with my tour buddies in the bar.

Now I really wish I had more time to head over to Ireland and do a shamrocker tour. Oh well thats on the list for next time!!

So we hit the bar...

The bar @ Morags hostel here in the Loch Ness is totally awesome. Last night we seemed to drink the bar dry of Magners (which I have fallen in love with) so tonight it was £2 spirits with any mixer of choice. So here I saw my chance to sample some G&Ts and some Vodka and OJ's. Then the Karaoke machine wasd set up and we had a ball - everyone in the room got up and had a crack - even Tony the tour guide. Tony put on a scottish accent to 'come fly with me' by Frank Sintara. Truly wonderful to hear!! Of course he was dancing around in his socks and kilt. Very hawt. I really like kilts. The fact that they dont wear anything underneath them has nothing to do with it :P

Now some of the girls (the canadians actually!) decided it would be cool to go swim in the Loch ness. I have not joined them on this venture and I truly hope they dont die of hypothermia.

Now whiole Ive been in the UK, Ive been a really sad soul and I am actually following the british version of the X Factor - I am going to miss it when I get home. They have a girl in a wheelchair who is one of the solo artists - she rocks.

I guess its time for me to hit the sack - first I need to work out how I am going to climb into to my scarily high bunk bed (getting down this morning was a challenge!).

I only have 2 mins left - so I hope to update again once I get back to London.

If any if you are ever in Scotland - Lochness in particular - come to morags lodge - it rules!

Dont swim in the Loch Ness...its very cold.

  • Oct. 14th, 2006 at 5:36 PM
meeeee
Ok I havent really been swimming in the loch ness - I put my fingers in the water and its bloody cold. I think some people were planning to have a few drinks and take a dip but the water is too cold.

The haggis tour I am on is a 3 day tour of Scotland and its amazing. The scenery is Scotland is amazing and I dont think you could say landscape like this anywhere else. Haggis is a LOT different from Contiki - we get off the bus a lot and take "wee walks". Yesterday we went a little way up one the mountains in the highlands. I didnt realise we'd walked so far till we had to walk uphill to get back to the bus!!!

Our tour manager/driver is Tony - hes a character and a half. The Scots seem to be so friendly and happy to help. Bascially Tony doesnt stop talking - when he isnt talking the Scottish music is playing on in the bus. Tony takes us to the most beautiful places and tells us stories about what happened a long time ago in those places. Most of the stories have been about Scottish royalty or the wars between the English and the Scots. Its really interesting to hear about all the killing and beheading of people that happened in Scotland.

We have been to see the Wallace Monument, and today we went to a really gorgeous castle called Eilean Donan. We have been up to the Isle of Skye, I have stuck my head in a Scottish River and drunk a lot of alcohol with my tour mates.

There are only 25 people on this tour, we have Australians, Canadians, Americans, South Africans and Mexicans on this tour. The real mixture of people has been really good.

Tomorrow we are off for a cruise down the Loch and to see areas where Braveheart was filmed and possibly some other things before heading back to Edinburgh.

I havent had much of chance to see Edinburgh - so on Monday I am having a free day there before heading back to England on Tuesday.

Tonight is a drinking competition - so I better go eat some pasta to absorb the grog!!!

Ciao!
